Menage-a-trois

Nic pointed me to this bisexual dating site on his blog [don’t ask me why, presumably he doesn’t realise I don’t need it], which purports to offer dating services for “bisexual and bi-curious singles and couples, even gay, lesbian, threesome and transgender”. Ignoring the really bad English of that sentence, I didn’t know “threesome” was now an identity on par with gay and lesbian. Someone issue this site an English grammar ticket.

I’ve nothing against threesomes, but I am uncomfortable when people automatically equate it with bisexuality. You CAN have a threesome with 3 girls or 3 guys, it is not like it’s unheard of. But the automatic image that comes to the head of many is the image of a straight guy getting off on watching two women do it [something that is considered inherently degrading by many lesbians], and then comes in at the end to “satisfy” them both [because women can’t possibly satisfy each other, they can only play with each other. *rolls eyes*] FYI, the other variation does exist too… two guys and a girl. [Now that should drive the fundies crazy]

  1. “a straight guy getting off on watching two women do it [something that is considered inherently degrading by many lesbians], and then comes in at the end to “satisfy” them both [because women can’t possibly satisfy each other, they can only play with each other”

    Where did this come from?!

I believe there’s plenty of pure lesbian porn. And some lesbian stuff is marketed as “only another girl knows what a girl truly wants” or something like that.

In any case, in normal porn the girl never is shown “satisfied” anyway, since porn is focused on the male climax.

2 guys and a girl? 2 guys getting it on while a girl watches? Wah. If you find any I’ll be interested in seeing it. Sounds interesting haha

  2. Dude, I was referring to threesome porn, not lesbian porn. I don’t think I was even referring to porn, but the general conception of threesomes.

  3. Well, since porn is geared toward the male market it is a good way to look at men’s conceptions (or ideal conceptions) of various types of sex.

And unless you’re saying in the conception of lesbian sex the girls are satisfied with lesbian sex but in the conception of threesome sex they somehow aren’t, I don’t understand why the image of a threesome is so degrading to lesbian sex.

  4. Okay, let me see if I can explain this to you..

    1. Most lesbian porn, being made for straight men, is actually subtly or overtly penile-oriented. Maybe you don’t pick it up, but we do. The undertones are there – that the reason two women have sex is not because they enjoy it, because they are doing so for the guys. Very obvious when dildo/strap-on play is involved.

    2. Most threesome porn just amplifies this: it is either two women satisfying one man, or two women making out to turn on a man. The focus is on the penis, or how the penis is the ultimate gratifier that both women are looking forward to, after all the “fore-play”.

Hopefully I will have new insights after reading this book I checked out on how men watch porn
